Capitol Hill Motel

We were nervous about a "motel" and had been cautioned by family about the "sketchy part of town" this place is in. NOT TO WORRY, this motel rivals any "Hotel" and the part of town was no different than any other thoroughfare in any metro area. My ONLY negative comment is the road noise. We live in a very quiet area so the noise stood out. It was evident however, major insulation had been added for noise reduction. The room was large, VERY clean and had all the amenities and more we needed for a two night stay. We even had an array of pillows from which to choose! The owner was very friendly and eager to tell the history of the 1940s construction which we found quite interesting. The attention to detail in this totally refurbished establishment was noticeable. Thank you Capital Hill Motel for a perfect start to our vacation.

A great little hotel for a quick stay! Front staff very friendly and helpful, clean rooms, comfortable, convenient location. For breakfast, walk (carefully) across the street to JJ's Caffe. Great food and service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH PLACES!

Great motel with personality! I needed to stay in the area and decided, based on other reviews, to give Capitol Hill Motel a shot. I'm SO glad I did! This place was convenient, very clean, well-priced, easy to get to, quiet, and the gal that checked me in was friendly. The only thing I didn't like were the frosted windows right next to the toilet - even though they were frosted, I would have preferred a window covering to make me feel like it was a little more private, and also to keep the street light right outside the window from shining in at night. This was a very minor annoyance, however. I will definitely be back soon! I will stay here from now on when I visit Portland (3-4x/year).

This was my first time staying at the Capitol Hill Motel, and I will be back! The family who owns this hotel is very friendly, stating they hoped the motel could be a “home away from home”. I was exhausted and asked if there was any way I could check in a hour before the official check-in time; it would have been within their rights to say no, but they very kindly accommodated my request. The rooms are VERY CLEAN, and look like they might have been remodeled recently. My suite had two rooms and a kitchenette, and everything was very nice, even the kitchen appliances (which included a stove). There was an assortment of pillows with varying firmness, and the bathroom included conditioning shampoo, which motels don’t always include. The whole facility felt safe and was very quiet. The location is great too, as there are multiple restaurants across the street and a Fred Meyer down the road. The deposit is on the high side, but whenever I have encountered this, I assume there is a good reason, and I got every penny of it back. I normally stay in hotel chains, but had such a good night here that I will be back!

Not knowing the city well, I was a little worried it might be in a sketchy area as it was just me and my teenage daughter. It’s really not an issue, we felt completely safe. There’s a great grocery store close by. It’s also easy to get to the freeway. The rooms are so much better than I expected for the price. I had the two queen bed suite. It’s two separate bedrooms, with two separate TV’s, a full size kitchen with a large refrigerator/freezer. It’s so well kept, it’s really clean. The beds are comfortable. The shower is small, but it feels really good, good water pressure. Really, they could be justified in charging more per night. For the price, I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Don't be deceived by the humble brick exterior. The rooms are spacious, modern and nicer than many places costing three times as much. Easy access to/from I-5, though a little tricky in some directions (use Google/Apple/Waze apps). Starbucks right up the street. Very friendly and helpful service behind the counter in the tiny office. Will absolutely stay here again.

This place is a gem. Room was very clean and spacious, ours had a full sized refrigerator which was awfully convenient, as was the parking right outside the door of the room. The area was safe and we never worried about our security, and the room was even better than we expected. Great place!

Rooms were nice and clean. Everything was reset and beds were made daily with fresh clean towels provided daily. The room we had came with a nice little kitchenette with a microwave and coffee machine which was helpful and much appreciated. Also the two beds being in separate "rooms" was nice for a bit of privacy and keeping my snoring from being a problem. Great place super close to the highway run by a nice family clean and affordable. Can't ask for more!
